Gurdwara Khalsa Darbar – “Southampton Sikh Resource Centre “ is the largest Gurdwara in the Hampshire and surrounding areas of the South of UK. It opened to public for the first time in summer of 2021. It is located in Southampton. It is a Sikh Religious Organisation and is a place of Worship. It provides various Cultural and Educational activities, like Yoga, Language and Music classes like Tabla, Harmonium to mention a few.”
Historical Background:
This building was built in 1930’s and is a Grade II listed building and it used to be a Southampton Methodist Church. Since it was taken over by the Sikh Community in an auction (early this year – 2021), the building is now going a major revamp and already 2 large prayer rooms have been refurbished. A large kitchen area has been fully revamped to current high standards.
The building is a neo-Georgian style. It is octagonal in shape, with redbrick building and large enough to hold 1,000 worshipers at a single time.

Featured on BBC News 17 March 2023, at 6:30pm on BBC ONE. The classes were filmed as they will be participating in the UK’s FIRST SIKH GAMES taking place in August 2023.
